Through the generous funding by the children of Rita and James Holding, Bowie Hockey Club is humbled to present the Rita and James Holding Memorial Scholarship Fund.
After her passing, James Holding funded a scholarship for Bowie Hockey players in Rita’s name. His funding provided numerous BHC players the opportunity to play the sport they love. Sadly, his family, the Bowie community and Bowie Hockey Club now mourns his loss; James Holding passed away on July 2, 2018.
Knowing their father’s love for the game and his loyalty to the club where his boys played hockey, Sonny, Johnna, and Rocco Holding have chosen to continue his legacy of assisting others to play ice hockey at Bowie Hockey Club.
The Rita and James Holding Memorial Scholarship Fund is generously provided by Sonny, Johnna, and Rocco Holding in honor of their parents, Rita and James Holding. Rita and James were hockey enthusiasts and Bowie Hockey Club loyalists. Their sons, Sonny and Rocco, played for years at BHC with their parents cheering them on from the stands. Rita was known for her enthusiastic cheers and her penny-filled milk jug noise-maker. James, on the other hand will be remembered for his quiet, yet kind, demeanor.
