The Rita and James Holding Memorial Scholarship Fund

Through the generous funding by the children of Rita and James Holding, Bowie Hockey Club is humbled to present the Rita and James Holding Memorial Scholarship Fund.

After her passing, James Holding funded a scholarship for Bowie Hockey players in Rita’s name. His funding provided numerous BHC players the opportunity to play the sport they love. Sadly, his family, the Bowie community and Bowie Hockey Club now mourns his loss; James Holding passed away on July 2, 2018.

Knowing their father’s love for the game and his loyalty to the club where his boys played hockey, Sonny, Johnna, and Rocco Holding have chosen to continue his legacy of assisting others to play ice hockey at Bowie Hockey Club.

The Rita and James Holding Memorial Scholarship Fund is generously provided by Sonny, Johnna, and Rocco Holding in honor of their parents, Rita and James Holding. Rita and James were hockey enthusiasts and Bowie Hockey Club loyalists. Their sons, Sonny and Rocco, played for years at BHC with their parents cheering them on from the stands. Rita was known for her enthusiastic cheers and her penny-filled milk jug noise-maker. James, on the other hand will be remembered for his quiet, yet kind, demeanor.

The fund will award one Bowie Hockey Club player with demonstrated financial need. The player should display exemplary team leadership and outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the ice. The scholarship is in the amount of $500.00.

The Joseph Loschiavo Memorial Scholarship

Through the generous funding by Catherine Loschiavo, Bowie Hockey Club is humbled to present the Joseph Loschiavo Memorial Scholarship Fund.

After his passing, Catherine Loschiavo funded a scholarship for Bowie Hockey players in Joseph’s name. Her funding provides numerous BHC players the opportunity to play the sport they love.

Knowing her husband’s love for the game and his devotion to the sport by developing youth players through countless hours of coaching and serving on the board at Bowie Hockey Club, Catherine has chosen to continue his legacy of assisting others to play ice hockey at Bowie Hockey Club.

The Joseph Loschiavo Memorial Scholarship Fund is generously provided by Catherine in honor of her husband, Joseph. Joe was a hockey dad, coach, vice president, president, enthusiast and Bowie Hockey Club loyalist. His sons, Nico and Camden, played for years at BHC at both the recreational and travel levels. Luckily they have many years of memories on the ice with their dad. Sometimes cheering them on from the stands but most often coaching them on the bench. His youngest son Jacob still plays at Bowie Hockey Club. Though he lost his dad and coach too young, the ice at Bowie is where he feels most at home and connected to his dad’s legacy. Countless hockey players continue to share personal stories with Catherine and her sons about “Coach Joe” and his impact in their lives both on and off the ice. The Loschiavo family is honored to continue his legacy and passion for youth hockey by offering this scholarship.

The fund will award three Bowie Hockey Club players, two recreational and one travel, with demonstrated financial need. The players should display exemplary team leadership and outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the ice. The travel scholarship is in the amount of $500 and the recreational scholarships are in the amount of $250 each.
